Hey, hey all you lovely people, Jess here laying out ALLLL the dreamy details of our latest Winnipeg Wedding Photography Workshop “Daydream.” Keep scrolling, cause believe me when I tell you, this workshop was quite literally out of a daydream. When Brooke first mentioned she’d like me to plan a workshop for Stay Close I was OVER the MOON! I swiped right on over to Pinterest and started pinning away a couple concepts for her to choose from. Thus began endless hours planning, dreaming and making sure everything was absolutely immaculate for the day to come.
When you’re in the early stages of workshop planning there’s an abundance of excitement, creativity is flowing and the possibilities seem endless. I have to say this excitement can very quickly turn overwhelming. Just an FYI if you intend to get disco balls for any type of shoot they are next to IMPOSSIBLE to find (large ones anyway.) Also apparently a terracotta tablecloth ceases to exist in the province of Manitoba lol. Some days it felt like nothing was coming together, miraculously it always works out! Friends LET ME TELL YOU, the day everything came together our MINDS were BLOWN.
The day of the workshop arrived with buckets of rain, cloudy skies and countless elevator rides. Quickly we pieced together each and every lovely piece that would create “Daydream”.
Let me walk you through this magical day.
All of the photographs captured at our Winnipeg photography wedding workshop in this post were taken by myself (Jess, @jess_ruttan) and Brooke Mos @brooke.mos
Hannah and Micheal were our first couple, the oh so sweet LOVE given off by these two was INCREDIBLE. We had them wear their original wedding attire as it fit our bohemian discotheque theme to a T. Hannah’s dress was a delicate, vintage lace and Micheal’s tweed suit complimented it perfectly to complete the retro look we were going for.
OKAAYYY Dairess and Brian can we just say “SEEEXXXXYYYY!!” These two brought some heat! They wore their own attire as well, with Dairess in a short, vintage style wedding dress featuring the most dramatic sleeves EVER and Brian in a creamy suit that flowed effortlessly with the vibes.
Courtney @champagneartistry did make-up for our two beautiful brides and did a fabulous job! Hannah and Dairess looked absolutely FLAWLESS. You HAVE to take a peek below, and book her for your next event! 😉
These eye-catching pieces came from a variety of places. Thanks to good friends and Spark Rentals @sparkrentals our dreamy display of suspended disco balls was brought to life. A special shout out to one of our models, Micheal for mastering the hanging of them, we seriously could not have done it without him!
Jackie from @luxe.linens was so helpful in dropping off her supplies at location the day of the workshop. The ivory candles and copper utensils completed our tablescape perfectly while the muslin runner was just the finishing touch we needed for our cake display.
LET’S. JUST. TAKE. A. MOMENT…Okay are we ready to talk about these florals? Bloom Floral @bloomfloral.ca SLAYED our vision for florals and created a variety of pieces to accommodate our two entirely different themes. Like just LOOK…
Our lovely terracotta cake was put together by the sweet Megs from @madebymegss She made a lemon poppyseed cake that quite literally melted in your mouth it was *chefs kiss.*
Planned Perfectly @plannedperfectly lent us the most picturesque espresso cross back chairs, they 100% brought the dreamy vibes of our bohemian discotheque theme to the next level.
All the vintage earrings and beautiful velvet ring boxes were provided by the ever so gracious owners at Belle Box Boutique @belle.box.boutique . Their sister shop Prim and Prairie @prim.and.prairie lent us a stunning viel and pair of tulle gloves that complemented Dairess’s bridal wear PERFECTLY.
The gracious owners of Temple 23 @temple23winnipeg allowed us to use their lovely studio space as most rental spaces were fully booked for the workshop date. The white walls and hardwood floors were the perfect blank canvas to work with.
Jess @wilflowercolourandclay, literally one of the most lovely human beings, created these simply beautiful clay candle holders. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect pieces to complete our tablescape.
Isabel @isabelxstyles styled our brides with two STUNNING looks. Soft curls and a boho braid for Hannah and some dramatic retro curls for Dairess, she absolutely killed it!
Our bohemian discoteque themed stationary dreams were brought to life with the help of Paula @paperandpalm.ca . Paula is always such a pleasure to work with and nails it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
THANK YOU so much to everyone who brought this workshop to life. We had such a beautiful day with the amazing Manitoba photographers who attended the event. We’ve had a couple people ask when we’re hosting our next Winnipeg wedding photography workshop which is always the greatest compliment EVER. We definitely have a few new ideas up our sleeve, and as always you can view our current events here
