As hosts we have combined our brain power to plan one epic rocky mountain itinerary. Which leads me to this blog post. Today, I’m going to share five of our favourite Banff photography locations. So whether you’re a photographer or a bride/groom, buckle up because you won’t want to miss this post!
Now, there is one key thing you should think about when you hear the words Banff photography in a sentence. That word is tourism. Yes, my friends Banff National Park is rated one of the top “must-see” destinations in Canada. When I say “top” I mean it ALWAYS ranks in the top three. If you choose Banff as your photography destination you’re going to have an insanely epic backdrop. However, choose your location carefully or that backdrop will include 50 other tourists with cameras and tripods. So, let’s talk about five amazing Banff locations and what you can expect at each of them.

Lake Minnewanka is just a short drive from the town of Banff. It’s towering mountains and blue waters make it the perfect couple photography location. It’s usually slightly quieter compared to Banff’s other attractions. You’ll find a great walking path along the edge of the water.
2. Moraine Lake

Make sure you time your trip right because Moraine Lake is NOT open year round. However, it is undoubtedly a stunning location that you do not want to miss. Like many Banff locations this one is a popular tourist attraction. It’s parking lots fill up fast so I generally recommend getting there for sunrise. If you go mid-day you risk being being unable to access the lake as roadblocks are set up when the parking lot is full. However, if you make it to the lake you will find plenty of opportunities to space out from the crowd.
3. Tunnel Mountain

This photography location is perfect for those getting married near the town Banff. As a photographer you can bring your couple here between a ceremony and reception. Tunnel Mountain is an accessible and quiet location encircled in the town of Banff.
4. Lake Louise

Lake Louise is without a doubt one of the most sought-after locations in Banff National Park. It’s glacier-fed blue waters make it a stunning backdrop for photographers. Just don’t expect to be the only photographer there. On a clear day hundreds of tourists line up their tripods to photograph the sunrise over the lake. Luckily hiking paths along the lake make it much easier to wander from the crowd.
5. Cascade Ponds

If you’re looking for a location close to Banff National Park Cascade Ponds might just be the place for you! Just a five minute drive from Banff, Cascade Ponds features tall grasses surrounded by mountain views. It is a quiet location for those looking to escape the crowds.
The five locations mentioned are just a couple you can expect to see photographed on the Roam Photography Workshop. As hosts, Katelyn, Camryn and myself can’t wait to show off a few more locations in this National park. We’d love to have you on the adventure! Roam Wedding Photography Workshop
